Home Visits

Doctor's bag

Patients are generally expected to come to surgery to be seen unless they are truly housebound or their condition dictates that they require a home visit.

Patients who feel they may need a home visit should contact the surgery before 10:00.  The doctor may telephone to discuss the reasons and timings of the visit.  In certain circumstances the doctor may consider it more appropriate to call for an ambulance or advise you to attend hospital.

If you are housebound, you can be visited at home by a community nurse if you are referred by your GP. You should also be visited at home by a health visitor if you have recently had a baby or if you are newly registered with a GP and have a child under five years.
